A Warm Welcome

Carl Rogers quote: People only seriously consider change when they feel accepted for exactly who they are.

I am a professional therapeutic counsellor with many years’ experience in dealing with issues such as grief and bereavement, sexual abuse, anxiety, eating disorders, depression and addiction, offering online or face-to-face counselling in southeast London.

Because you’re not like anyone else, I will tailor my therapeutic approach to fit your individual needs. I am trained as an integrative therapist, which means I can draw from a number of different models. These include person-centred therapy and psychodynamic therapy, which means we will explore your childhood and past experiences, because they may provide clues about how your current relationships function. We’ll explore what mechanisms you have used to cope with distress and decide whether they are still useful to you. We’ll also talk about what’s bothering you right now and figure out your goals for living a more fulfilling life.

In my previous career as a journalist, I met people from all walks of life and learned how to listen closely and with compassion to interviewees to find out what the meaning might be behind the words they’re saying. This has proven an invaluable life skill that now enables me to help clients understand why they might be feeling upset or behaving in ways that trouble them.

I will offer compassion and warmth as we address your issues together. I know how difficult life can be and look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing.
